Pastel homes with red
tile roofs and desert landscaping are characteristic of The Pueblo
Village in Summerlin. |
When the Pueblo Village was built in the
1990s it was definitely ahead of its time. The focus of landscaping was
native plants and drought-tolerant landscaping. Today, the new communities in Summerlin and around the Las Vegas Valley are required by
law to have drought-tolerant plantings to minimize water usage. As a
bonus this type of landscape requires little maintenance.

The walking trail
that winds through Pueblo Park in Summerlin is over a mile long. |
Running through the middle of The Pueblo
Village is a mile long park which rambles from Buffalo
to Rampart Boulevard. Within the park are areas with
grassy lawn for children's play, basketball courts, and a long trail which is enjoyed by
walkers and joggers and their dogs -- usually in the cool hours of
morning. Occasionally, bicyclists use this trail.
Homes of varying price ranges and condos line the park. There are
also schools and churches within Pueblo Village. Homes and condos
are available by resale only. There are no new developments in The
Pueblo Village.

On the northwest
corner of The Pueblo Village is a shopping and medical center. A
sculpture that pays homage to Native Americans is on the right
in this photo. |
