A perfect place for morning walks and
cycling are the greenbelts in the Peccole Ranch
neighborhood just
to the south of Charleston Boulevard.
Charleston is the street that divides the
southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley from the
northwest. |
Southwest Las Vegas
The Southwest area of Las Vegas,
west of The Strip and south of Charleston Boulevard, is
now growing rapidly. It has, in fact, overtaken
Henderson as the fastest growing area of the Las Vegas
Valley with many new developments with both new and
resale homes for sale.
Summerlin in the
southwest
Summerlin--with
all its very special amenities--now extends into the
Southwest. The Ridges, an exclusive affluent
neighborhood in southern Summerlin, is to the west in
the hills surrounding Red Rock Canyon. Homes in
The Willows and The Gardens Villages in southern
Summerlin are only available by resale.
Luxury Homes in Las Vegas' Southwest
In the Southwest you will
find gated, luxury home neighborhoods such as
Spanish Trail Country Club, Queensridge, as well
as the Red Rock
Country Club. Older, well-established Peccole
Ranch, The Lakes and other neighborhoods are nearby.
Further south there is a huge growth in housing
developments, including the very luxurious Southern
Highlands with its award-winning golf course.
Near
the Strip are beautiful long-established neighborhoods,
many built in the 1960s, including Scotch 80s, gated
Rancho Bel Air, and McNeill Estates. While the majority
of homes in Las Vegas are pastel stucco with tile roofs,
the homes in these neighborhoods are very spacious '60s
ranch style as well as some Tudor homes.
Southern Highlands
Southern Highlands, a very
exclusive new country club community, has given its name
to an area of rapid development at the far southern end
of the Las Vegas Valley.
Southwest Las Vegas between
Charleston and Tropicana has many large, new
apartment complexes occupied by newcomers to the City as
well as single family homes. South of Russell
Road, the area is zoned to allow owners to keep horses
on their property, so the homes and lots are larger.
Rhodes Ranch
Yet another huge development in
the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley is Rhodes
Ranch where there are both homes and condos available
for sale. At the heart of this community is a golf
course. It is a relatively flat course -- in
contrast to the Eagles Nest and Revere courses which are
steep and hilly.

The very sleek and sophisticated Red
Rock Casino is at the beginning of southern
Summerlin. |
BUSINESS AND SHOPPING: While casinos on The Strip are
the primary business activity in the Southwest, all the
main streets are lined with retail shops, stores,
restaurants and neighborhood businesses.
